Make a real difference every day by supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Wirral schools.
TalentBoard is recruiting Learning Support Workers / SEND Teaching Assistants to work within mainstream schools and specialist SEND provisions across the Wirral. This rewarding role is ideal for compassionate, motivated individuals who want to support pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD, communication difficulties, and behavioural needs to thrive in education.
The Role: Learning Support Worker (SEND)
As a Learning Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Depending on the setting, your responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 support and small‑group interventions for pupils with SEND
Supporting pupils to access learning in line with IEPs, EHCPs and behaviour plans
Assisting with differentiated classroom activities tailored to individual needs
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
Helping to create a calm, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
Adhering to safeguarding procedures and prioritising pupil wellbeing at all times
All applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check (Update Service preferred).
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in:
Education, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support roles
SEND, SEMH or behaviour support
Care, support work, youth work or social care
Psychology, mental health support, coaching or mentoring
Volunteering with children, young people or vulnerable adults
You don’t need formal teaching qualifications — attitude, empathy and reliability are key. Qualifications in education, childcare, psychology or health & social care are beneficial but not essential.
You’ll be well‑suited to this role if you are:

Passionate about inclusive education and SEND support
Confident building rapport with children and young people
