TalentBoard is currently recruiting Specialist SEN Teaching Assistants to support a range of warm, inclusive and well‑resourced SEND and mainstream schools across Ellesmere Port.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is caring, patient and committed to understanding the individual needs of children with learning differences. Whether you’ve worked in SEN before or you’re bringing valuable experience from care, youth work, coaching or support roles, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing in this SEN TA role
You’ll be supporting pupils with a variety of needs, which may include:
Autism and communication differences
Global developmental delay or cognitive learning needs
SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) challenges
Sensory processing needs
Non‑verbal or limited‑communication pupils
Physical or mobility requirements
Your day‑to‑day role may involve:
Providing 1:1 support in line with individual learning plans
Supporting pupils in small groups during structured activities and interventions
Using visual supports, communication aids and personalised strategies
Helping pupils regulate emotions using positive, trauma‑informed approaches
Encouraging engagement with learning, routines and social activities
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to provide a consistent and joined‑up approach
Creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment where every child feels understood and included
What we’re looking for
You do not need previous school‑based SEN experience — we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including:
Care or residential settings
Support work or mental health roles
Youth work or mentoring
Coaching or personal training
Health and social care
We are looking for individuals who are:
Patient, understanding and emotionally resilient
Confident supporting pupils with communication, behaviour or sensory needs
Able to work both independently and as part of a dedicated team
Compassionate, reliable and committed to helping children succeed
Willing to take part in training and develop specialist SEN skills
An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one) is required.
