Job Overview

 

TalentBoard is looking for committed Mentors who are passionate about helping young people with SEND to join our team, working with schools across Liverpool. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people with needs such as SEMH and ADHD. However, we also encourage applications from individuals with experience supporting children in roles like Teaching Assistant or similar (including voluntary work) or those with experience supporting adults with special needs.

 

 

Duties

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to address behavioural challenges.

  • Develop strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.

  • Monitor progress and maintain detailed records.

  • Deliver intervention programmes such as conflict resolution or anger management.

  • Foster trust and act as a role model for students.

  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and leadership teams to implement behaviour plans.

  • Support inclusive learning environments and smooth student transitions.

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities by promoting the welfare of children and young people, and ensuring all actions align with school policies on child protection and safety.

 

Skills

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

  • Empathy and Patience: Understanding and supportive attitude towards students with behavioural challenges.

  • Behaviour Management: Knowledge of techniques to de-escalate conflict and promote positive behaviours.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations and implement effective intervention strategies.

  • Resilience: Maintain composure and adaptability in challenging situations.

  • Organisational Skills: Record-keeping, monitoring progress, and managing intervention plans.

  • Teamwork: Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.

  • Knowledge of Safeguarding: Understanding safeguarding procedures to ensure student safety (training can be provided).

  • Passion for Supporting Young People with SEND: A strong commitment to helping students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities thrive.


All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding procedures.
