Key Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering inclusive, autism-friendly lessons tailored to individual learning profiles.
• Help pupils with autism engage in classroom activities, build confidence, and make academic progress.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a calm, structured learning environment.
• Lead and assist in sensory, social, and developmental activities suited to pupils’ needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to monitor and support pupil progress.
• Prepare learning materials and maintain a safe, organised classroom.
• Provide personal care support when required, always with dignity and sensitivity.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring compliance with child protection policies.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children or adults with autism or SEND is desirable.
• Applicants from non-educational backgrounds (support work, care, youth mentoring, coaching) are welcome.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse children.
• Knowledge of autism strategies such as TEACCH, PECS, or sensory integration is a plus.
• Empathetic, patient, and proactive team player.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
