Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary, secondary and specialist schools in Wirral.

The Role


As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and speech & communication difficulties.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver 1:1 support and assist with small group learning

  • Support pupils in line with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans) and individual learning strategies

  • Work alongside teachers to adapt lessons and ensure inclusive classroom participation

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development

  • Build strong working relationships with pupils, teachers, and SENCO staff

  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold pupil welfare at all times


About You

 

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, including:


  • Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants

  • SEND or SEMH support roles

  • Care work, youth work, or support work

  • Psychology, mentoring, or mental health support

  • Relevant voluntary or community experience

 

Essential Qualities


  • A genuine interest in SEND education and inclusive learning

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A proactive and reliable approach

 

A valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
