Teaching Assistant – Nurture Unit Support | Wirral Primary School
TalentBoard is looking for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated Nurture Unit within a welcoming primary school on the Wirral. This specialist provision based within a mainstream primary school supports children with a range of needs including those who need additional help with their social, emotional, and behavioural development, creating a safe and structured environment where every child can thrive.
If you have experience working with children who face emotional or behavioural challenges, or other additional needs — whether in education, care, youth work, sports coaching, or support services—we’d love to hear from you! Previous experience in nurture or SEMH settings is an advantage but not essential if you have the right skillset.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils within the Nurture Unit.
- Assist in delivering tailored activities that promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and social skills in a nurturing environment.
- Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.
Requirements
- Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with SEMH or behavioural needs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Relevant SEND or nurture training (desirable but not essential).
- Enhanced DBS check required (we can assist with this).
Benefits
- Competitive pay rates with weekly payroll.
- Access to specialist training and CPD opportunities.
- Ongoing support from a dedicated SEND consultant.
- Flexible full-time and part-time roles across Wirral schools.
