Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? We are seeking dedicated Learning Support Workers / SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary, secondary, and specialist schools in the Wirral.

 

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) achieve their full potential in a supportive educational environment.

 

About the Role

 

As a Learning Support Worker, you will provide vital classroom and pastoral support to pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Delivering 1:1 support and small-group interventions
  • Supporting learning in line with EHCPs, IEPs, and individual behaviour plans
  • Assisting teachers with adapted and inclusive lesson activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social skills
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and SENCO teams
  • Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Following safeguarding procedures and prioritising pupil welfare at all times

 

An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required for this role.

 

Candidate Profile

 

We are interested in applicants from a range of backgrounds, including:

 

  • Teaching Assistant or Learning Support roles
  • SEND or SEMH support experience
  • Care work, youth work, or social care
  • Psychology, mentoring, or mental health support
  • Voluntary work with children or vulnerable individuals

 

Formal qualifications are not essential. We value individuals who demonstrate:

 

  • Patience, resilience, and empathy
  • A genuine interest in SEND education and inclusion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliability and a proactive approach to supporting learners
