Job Overview
TalentBoard is seeking qualified Design Technology Teachers to join our team, supporting schools across Liverpool. To apply for this role, you must hold Qualified Teacher Status, be highly motivated and professional, and be open to working in a variety of settings (though long-term opportunities in individual schools may also become available).
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the curriculum, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to delivering well-prepared and engaging lessons.
Duties
Design and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons that inspire creativity and practical learning.
Assess and track student progress, offering constructive feedback to support their development.
Maintain a well-managed, positive classroom environment that encourages active participation.
Provide pastoral support as a form tutor, ensuring student wellbeing and adhering to safeguarding responsibilities.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents/carers to promote student success.
Contribute to school life by participating in extracurricular activities, events, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities by promoting the welfare of children and young people, and ensuring all actions align with school policies on child protection and safety.
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for teaching in UK schools.
Degree in Design Technology or a Related Field: A strong foundation in design, engineering, or technology subjects is required.
Proven Teaching Experience: Experience teaching Design Technology at the secondary level is advantageous.
Practical Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in using tools, machinery, and software relevant to design and manufacturing processes.
Curriculum Knowledge: A sound understanding of the Design Technology curriculum, including design principles, materials, and sustainability.
Classroom Management: Strong ability to manage behaviour effectively while fostering a creative and inclusive environment.
Creative and Technical Skills: The ability to inspire students through innovative projects and problem-solving tasks.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with students, colleagues, and parents.
Familiarity with CAD Software: Knowledge of computer-aided design tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks is desirable.
Health and Safety Awareness: Understanding of health and safety protocols in a workshop/classroom environment is essential.
