TalentBoard is seeking dedicated Mentors passionate about supporting young people with SEND to join our team, working with schools across Ellesmere Port and the surrounding area. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people with needs such as SEMH and ADHD. We also welcome applications from individuals with related experience, such as Teaching Assistants (including voluntary roles), or those with experience supporting adults with special needs.

 

Duties

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to address behavioural challenges.

• Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.

• Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records.

• Deliver intervention programmes such as conflict resolution and anger management.

• Foster trust and serve as a positive role model for students.

• Collaborate with staff, parents, and leadership teams to implement behaviour plans.

• Support inclusive learning environments and assist with smooth student transitions.

• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities by promoting the welfare of children and young people, and ensuring all actions align with school policies on child protection and safety.

• Strong Communication Skills: Build trust and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

• Empathy and Patience: Demonstrate understanding and support for students with behavioural challenges.

• Behaviour Management: Knowledge of techniques to de-escalate conflicts and promote positive behaviour.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations and implement effective intervention strategies.

• Resilience: Stay composed and adaptable in challenging situations.

• Organisational Skills: Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and manage intervention plans.

• Teamwork: Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.

• Knowledge of Safeguarding: Understand safeguarding procedures to ensure student safety (training provided if needed).

• Passion for Supporting Young People with SEND: A strong commitment to helping students thrive.

All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding procedures.
