1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 6 (ADHD & Additional Needs) | Wirral

We are recruiting a full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with ADHD and additional needs. The pupil splits their time between a mainstream primary school and a specialist provision, so flexibility and understanding of complex needs are essential. Although the pupil is in Year 6, they are working at a lower academic level, requiring patience and tailored support.

This is an ongoing, long-term role, and we also have many other full-time and long-term opportunities available across Wirral schools.

Your Role

• Provide 1:1 tailored support for a pupil with ADHD and additional SEND needs
• Assist with learning activities and behaviour strategies
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and specialist provision staff
• Promote emotional regulation, independence, and confidence
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow child protection policies

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting young people with SEND, ideally ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural challenges
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check (or already hold one on the Update Service)
