About the Role:

 

As a Behaviour Mentor, you’ll provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of needs, including:

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)

  • ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

  • PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance)

  • ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder)

  • Students who have experienced trauma

You’ll work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and families to implement behaviour strategies and promote emotional well-being.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted interventions such as conflict resolution and anger management

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students

  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour

  • Support transitions and promote inclusive classroom practices

  • Collaborate with staff and external agencies to develop behaviour plans

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities by promoting the welfare of children and young people, and ensuring all actions align with school policies on child protection and safety.


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Behaviour Mentors

  • Teaching Assistants (including voluntary roles)

  • Youth Workers

  • Support Workers for adults with additional needs


Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Empathy, patience, and resilience

  • Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques

  • Organisational and record-keeping abilities

  • Understanding of safeguarding practices (training provided)


All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding procedures.
