Are you looking for a rewarding career supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary, secondary, and specialist SEND schools in Wirral.

About the Role

 

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access education by delivering targeted 1:1 support and small group interventions. You’ll work with students with a range of additional needs, including:

 

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • ADHD

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)

  • Speech, language, and communication difficulties

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide individual and small group learning support

  • Work in line with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)

  • Collaborate with teachers to differentiate lessons and support inclusion

  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and SENCO teams

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment

  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

 

Candidate Requirements

 

We welcome applicants with experience in:

 

  • Teaching Assistant / Learning Support roles

  • SEND or SEMH support

  • Care, youth work, or support work settings

  • Psychology, mentoring, or mental health roles

  • Voluntary or community-based support work

 

Essential Skills & Qualities

 

  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Reliable, proactive, and adaptable approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
