About the Role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access education by delivering targeted 1:1 support and small group interventions. You’ll work with students with a range of additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
Speech, language, and communication difficulties
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group learning support
Work in line with EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)
Collaborate with teachers to differentiate lessons and support inclusion
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and SENCO teams
Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
Candidate Requirements
We welcome applicants with experience in:
Teaching Assistant / Learning Support roles
SEND or SEMH support
Care, youth work, or support work settings
Psychology, mentoring, or mental health roles
Voluntary or community-based support work
Essential Skills & Qualities
Passion for supporting children with additional needs
Patience, empathy, and resilience
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Reliable, proactive, and adaptable approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
