Job Overview

 

TalentBoard is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and engaging Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting pupils, particularly those with special educational needs, in schools across Chester and the surrounding areas. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working with children and making a positive impact on their educational journey. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and have experience supporting individuals with special needs, whether within education or in other settings. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons tailored to each student's needs.

  • Support children with special educational needs, ensuring full participation in classroom activities.

  • Help manage classroom behaviour by promoting positive interactions among students.

  • Aid in the educational development of toddlers through age-appropriate activities and play.

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and staff regarding student progress and concerns.

  • Prepare classroom materials and resources to enhance learning.

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment during lessons and activities.

  • Assist with personal care tasks as needed, ensuring each child's dignity and comfort.

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities by promoting the welfare of children and young people, and ensuring all actions align with school policies on child protection and safety.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable, but we will also consider those with experience supporting adults with SEND or relevant qualifications.

  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting children with diverse needs is advantageous.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with students and staff.

  • A genuine passion for educating young children and supporting their development.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take initiative when needed.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with diverse learners.

 

All applicants must hold (or be willing to obtain) a valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, in line with safeguarding requirements.
