TalentBoard is currently recruiting Behaviour Mentors in Wirral to support pupils across a range of primary, secondary and Specialist SEND schools.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people who may be experiencing SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, behavioural challenges, anxiety or disengagement from learning.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils to regulate emotions, improve behaviour and re-engage in education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 behaviour support for pupils with SEMH needs
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
Support emotional regulation and de-escalation during challenging moments
Work alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
Help implement behaviour plans and tailored interventions
Encourage positive behaviour, resilience and engagement with learning
Support pupils across the school day, including classrooms and unstructured times
About You
We are looking for calm, patient and resilient individuals who are passionate about supporting young people.
Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals is desirable, but we also welcome candidates from relevant backgrounds such as:
Youth work or mentoring
Care or residential support
Mental health or wellbeing roles
Sports coaching
Community outreach
SEN or behaviour support
You will demonstrate:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to remain calm under pressure
A positive and restorative approach to behaviour
Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs or behaviour challenges
A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
Requirements
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Willingness to complete safeguarding checks in line with safer recruitment practices
