Are you looking to support children with additional needs in a warm, inclusive school environment? TalentBoard is now recruiting Specialist SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of Wallasey primary and secondary schools, including both mainstream and SEND provisions.

⭐ What You’ll Be Doing as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Wallasey
You will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, which may include:
- Autism and social communication differences
- SEMH (social, emotional & mental health) needs
- Global developmental delay or learning difficulties
- Sensory processing differences
- Limited or non-verbal communication
- Physical or mobility needs requiring adapted support
Your daily responsibilities may involve:
- Delivering 1:1 support tailored to each child’s EHCP or learning plan
- Assisting small groups with structured tasks, interventions and therapy-style activities
- Using visuals, communication tools and personalised teaching approaches
- Supporting emotional regulation using calm, trauma-informed strategies
- Helping pupils stay engaged in lessons, daily routines and social situations
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams
- Creating a nurturing, predictable environment where every child feels valued

You do not need previous school-based SEND experience. We welcome applications from people with transferable skills, such as:
- Care or residential work
- Support work or mental health settings
- Nursing or healthcare backgrounds
- Youth work, mentoring or early help roles
- Sports coaching or activity leadership
- Health and social care environments
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:
- Patient, empathetic and emotionally aware
- Confident supporting communication, sensory or behavioural needs
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a supportive team
- Reliable, compassionate and committed to pupil progress
- Keen to access training and build specialist SEN skills
- Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS if you don’t already have one
