Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? TalentBoard is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work in both mainstream and specialised SEND settings in Ellesmere Port and the surrounding areas. Although experience working within a specialist SEND school is ideal, we will also consider applicants who have experience of supporting individuals with SEND either through mainstream education or from roles outside of education, such as care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in creating and delivering engaging, tailored lessons.
- Provide support to children with SEND, ensuring their active participation in classroom activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Engage young learners in age-appropriate activities to support their development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to monitor and support student progress.
- Prepare and organise classroom materials and resources.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised classroom environment.
- Offer personal care assistance when needed, ensuring the dignity and comfort of students.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children is preferred, but we also welcome applicants with experience supporting adults with SEND or relevant qualifications.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting diverse needs is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine passion for educating and supporting young children.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and take initiative.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with diverse learners.
