Overview
TalentBoard is seeking a Teaching Assistant to offer individuals and small groups of children targeted support to help them develop their phonics. The successful applicant will have prior experience of supporting young people with phonics, in addition to experience supporting children with SEND. You will be able to adjust your approach according to the needs of each child, and strive to help children improve on a session by session, week by week basis.
Key Duties:
- Deliver targeted phonics interventions to individuals and small groups.
- Monitor and assess children's progress, adapting sessions to their specific needs.
- Support children with SEND, ensuring they are fully included in all activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to create tailored learning plans.
- Foster a positive and engaging learning environment to motivate children.
- Maintain accurate records of sessions and provide feedback to staff and parents.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience delivering phonics interventions in a school or childcare setting.
- Experience supporting children with SEND.
- Understanding of the phonics framework and ability to use phonics resources effectively.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate).
