TalentBoard is recruiting Learning Support Workers across the Wirral to join caring, supportive primary, secondary and specialist SEND provisions.
If you have experience in care, youth work, mental health, sports coaching, community support or any role supporting vulnerable individuals, you may be an excellent fit for a Learning Support Worker position in a Wirral school.
⭐ What You’ll Be Doing as a Learning Support Worker in Wirral
As an LSW, you will support pupils with a wide range of needs, which may include:
Autism and communication differences
Learning disabilities or developmental delay
SEMH (social, emotional & mental health) challenges
Sensory needs and ADHD
Non-verbal or limited communication
Physical or mobility needs requiring adapted support
Your responsibilities may include:
Offering 1:1 support or small‑group guidance during lessons
Helping pupils access learning through visuals, communication tools and structured routines
Supporting emotional regulation using calm, nurturing, trauma‑informed approaches
Encouraging participation, independence and confidence
Assisting teachers, SENCOs and therapists with personalised interventions
Creating a safe, positive and consistent environment where pupils feel understood and supported
This is a role where your patience, empathy and reliability can change a child’s school experience for the better.

No school experience is required — we welcome applicants from backgrounds such as:
Care and residential support
Mental health and wellbeing services
Youth work or mentoring
Health and social care
Community support, sports coaching or activity leadership
Support work with children or adults with additional needs
We’re interested in people who are:
Calm, caring and emotionally resilient
Confident working with communication, sensory or behavioural needs
Reliable and committed to supporting children holistically
Willing to learn and develop specialist SEN skills
Able to follow guidance but also use initiative
Happy to complete or update an Enhanced DBS
