Behaviour Mentor – Wirral | TalentBoard

Are you someone who stays calm under pressure and enjoys supporting young people who need an extra layer of care, guidance and emotional stability?

TalentBoard is seeking Behaviour Mentors to work across a number of nurturing and inclusive primary and secondary schools throughout the Wirral.

If you have experience in youth work, mental health, coaching, SEN support, care, community outreach, or any role where relationship‑building and de‑escalation are essential, your skills could make a powerful impact in local schools.

⭐ What You’ll Do as a Behaviour Mentor in Wirral

As a Behaviour Mentor, you’ll be a steady, positive presence for pupils who struggle with emotional regulation, social challenges or behavioural barriers. Your role may involve:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 who present with SEMH needs, anxiety, low self‑esteem or ongoing behavioural difficulties

  • Building consistent, trusting relationships to help pupils feel valued, safe and listened to

  • Using restorative and trauma‑informed approaches during moments of frustration or escalation

  • Helping pupils follow personalised behaviour plans and self‑management strategies

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leaders and support staff to ensure consistency

  • Encouraging positive choices, emotional resilience and constructive communication

  • Supporting behaviour in classrooms, nurture rooms, playgrounds and other school spaces

  • Celebrating progress, promoting independence and encouraging pupils to recognise their own successes

This is a role where your encouragement and stability can change a child’s experience of school — and often their wider outlook too.

⭐ Who We’re Looking For

We welcome people both with and without school experience. You may come from backgrounds such as:

  • Youth work, mentoring or outreach

  • Mental health, wellbeing or crisis support

  • Residential care or community support

  • Sports coaching or activity leadership

  • SEN or behaviour support roles

  • Security roles with a strong focus on calm de‑escalation

Key qualities we look for:

  • Excellent communication and empathy

  • Patience, emotional resilience and a calm demeanour

  • Confidence supporting young people who may be disengaged or distressed

  • A restorative, positive approach to behaviour

  • The ability to build strong, supportive connections

  • A genuine desire to help pupils develop emotionally and socially

An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required.

⭐ Why Choose TalentBoard on the Wirral?

We partner with schools across Wallasey, Birkenhead, Bebington, Moreton, Hoylake, Prenton, Upton and nearby areas.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Weekly competitive PAYE pay

  • Flexible work based around your schedule

  • Free, high‑quality SEND & SEMH CPD

  • A supportive consultant who understands behaviour, SEMH and Wirral schools
